Design Updates for Black Pixel's Podcast App

At Black Pixel, I was asked to refresh the design of our white-labeled podcast framework, to match the updated visual style of iOS 7 and our client's new branding.

My Role

I led design on this project, working with an engineer to implement the updates.

Goals

Our goal was to update the visual style to match the look of Apple's redesigned iOS 7. This included removing heavy gradients, removing noise, and updating in-app icons.

Improving the Now Playing Screen

The now playing screen was looking pretty dated. I made the show artwork larger, to highlight the show. Reduced clutter by moving non-essential details to an information screen. Moved the player controls to the bottom to make them easier to reach on larger phones.

The Launch
